4 Reasons to Bring Your Dog to a Couples (or any) Photoshoot

One reason is enough for me to bring my own dog to a photoshoot, but 4? Hear me out, and then if you’re just like me and also think it would be incredibly fun to have your dog at your couples photoshoot, hit me with an inquiry here and let’s get your own shoot on the calendar.

While I am writing this blog post in the original context of bringing a dog to your couples photoshoot, they also apply to solo shoots (lifestyle or relaxed headshots) and family photoshoots, so keep that in mind!

While all of the reasons I think you should bring your pup to a photoshoot are listed below…

This video might do even better justice, so let’s start with it.

1. Dogs bring motion to your photos.

Motion is vital to capturing the essence of a couple’s relationship in my opinion. If you’re looking for completely static photos, I might not be the photographer for you (unless you want to do an awesome in-home studio couples shoot with a backdrop). This goes for family photos as well! So, if you’re not looking for static photos, hit me up, and let’s do a shoot together WITH your pup!

2. Dogs make the photoshoot more fun and goofy.

Why do dogs make photoshoots more fun and goofy? Because they are only semi-tamed beings haha. They make faces people would probably never make, might run around like a maniac enjoying the outdoors and scenery, and bring out true joy from their owners. Those are amazing things when taking photos. If you have seen my About Me page, you will know I LOVE animals, especially dogs, so obviously I am biased in this equation. Can they be hard to pin down for photos? Sometimes, but if we get several shots then we have success.

3. Dogs bring comfort!

Oftentimes I run across couples that are new to being in front of a camera. That is TOTALLY ok and VERY common. To be honest, my boyfriend and I are often pretty awkward in front of a camera, and we are both photographers haha. The great thing about bringing your dog is they are often an extension of you and bring ease and comfort to situations. In a photoshoot’s case, they can feel like another piece of home and help you feel more relaxed in front of the camera.

4. Dogs are amazing.

This last one is a cheap shot but altogether true: Dogs are single handledly one of the purest animals on this planet in my opinion and they make everything better. They have so much love to give and will always be your companion. So… why not bring your pup to the shoot and spread the love?
