My Personal Work

Who I am is evident in my personal photography in a unique way, distinct from my professional work. My love for photography started with trying to capture the landscape and wildlife of our incredible planet, but it didn’t stop there.

I hope you’ll take a look at the work I produce in my personal life, both film and digital, and see where my love of photography started, and how it continues to be inspired and grow.

Film plays a distinctive role in the landscape of photography. It is a one and done shot. There is no editing, no second thought or retake. In that lies something beautiful within the permanence of film. It develops within the photographer a sense of patience, requiring the photographer to take a shot, and let their anticipation grow before seeing the final result after the development process.

With that in mind, take a look at what permanence on film looks like to me.

Digital

While part of the beauty of film lies within its single shot permanence, there is beauty in the nature of digital photography as well. Encapsulating the vibrance of colors of a place, person, animal, sometimes feels only possible with digital.

I hope by walking through my digital personal portfolio, you can immerse yourself in the beauty of the places I’ve been so lucky to witness, and the people I have been so lucky to be surrounded by.

Sintaro Ethiopia in black and white

In 2023, I took my first trip to Sintaro, Ethiopia. Sintaro is a very small village in southern Ethiopia and an incredibly special place with so many joyful, beautiful people, inside and out. I was introduced to Sintaro because my local church partners with an Ethiopian Christian organization called Hope to support the village. The partnership started with building a well in the village for clean water and building a school for children of the poorest families in the village. I had the privilege of meeting the four girls I sponsor. Sponsorship provides the girls the opportunity to go through school, providing them with two meals a day and education. I was filled with so much joy, being loved on by everyone in this village.

If you’d like, take a look at how I captured the joy of the people of Ethiopia. I can’t do the experience justice, but I hope to give a window into the most amazing trip of my life.
