C and E’s engagement session was nothing short of magical. The couple arrived with excitement, ready to embrace the day and each other. The morning light lit up the gardens, illuminating the lush greenery and colorful blooms that Filoli is known for. As we explored the grounds, we found the perfect spots to capture their chemistry and connection, starting with the iconic entrance to the house.

Capturing Genuine Moments

One of the highlights of the session was watching C and E interact naturally as well as getting to know the two of them as a couple and as individuals.

Every single stop along the way as we walked through the gardens and property we captured shots that both showed their goofy, fun side, but also shots that showed the romance and deep love between the two of them.

Tips for Your Own Engagement Session

If you’re considering an engagement session at Filoli or any picturesque location, here are a few tips to make the most of your experience:

1. Choose the Right Time: The golden hour, shortly after sunrise or before sunset, provides the best natural light for photos. Filoli Gardens has evening nights throughout the year but not all the times. For this shoot, I did the first open slot in the morning at 10am and we caught some beautiful lighting and shadows for moody shots throughout the session.

2. Coordinate Your Outfits: Select outfits that complement each other and the surroundings. Soft colors often work beautifully in garden settings. I wouldn’t recommend wearing green since it will be prevalent in the surroundings. For a more elegant luxury feel in your photos, try pairing white and black between partners.

3. Be Yourself: The best photos come when you’re relaxed and having fun. Don’t hesitate to show your genuine emotions and connection.
